Coffee Pods, What are these?Coffee Pods :- These are roasted and ground coffee encapsulated in paper.The tampering process applied just the correct pressure and to a standard size of 44mm with 6.8g - 7.0g of coffee per pod. The original pod was designed by Illy caffe over 10 years ago. In 1996 Illy opened its idea to the coffee industry to bring a standard pod size to the market. The image on the right is a coffee pod. So what's good about coffee pods? By using pods in your machine not only can you guarantee perfect results but there is also no me ss and coffee pods help to look after your machine. In fact used pods can even be used as fertilizer. And now many machine companies offer adaptors with their machines to accept pods as these are getting very popular. The other names for coffee pod are coffee pad or espresso pod. Beside the above advantage, using coffee pods is a simple way to make perfect espresso and with excellent results. It is also very convenient to use too. Just by replacing the filter plate in the portafilter/group handle, most machines can use the coffee pods. So there is no need to tamper, no stale packets left open and no need for a separate grinder. Beside the standard size of 44mm, other sizes like 55mm and 62mm are available and offered by various companies. The picture below shows a coffee pod being used to brew a cup of coffee.
